Brissie to the Bay – The Ride to Fight MS
McCarthy Durie Lawyers were proud to get behind our Director, Marcus Johnson who raised funds to fight MS by competing in the 2013 Brissie to the Bay Bike Ride.
Marcus is an avid bike rider with a penchant for philanthropy. He has decided to combine these two pastimes and compete in the Enerflex Brissie to the Bay bike ride.
“The Ride to Fight MS” is helping to raise funds to provide vital services and support to assist all those affected by Multiple Sclerosis. McCarthy Durie Lawyers donated $500 in support of Marcus’ ride.
Covering 100 km, the bike ride begins at Musgrave Park and heads out to Wynnum where it continues along to the Manly esplanade and over to Wellington Point. The course then begins to track back towards the starting point via Wakerley.
Contributing to the Legal Community
McCarthy Durie Lawyers offers paid placements for University Law students, enabling them to gain valuable experience within the industry while they are studying. The student can then progress into roles as a law graduate and then as an employed lawyer.
This program offers opportunities to new lawyers in much the same way as a trade apprenticeship does and ensures that quality lawyers are produced for the future.
This program has been in place for several years over which time we have had the priviledge to train law students and witness them grow and develop into fully practicing lawyers who are giving back to society.
Work experience opportunities
McCarthy Durie has provided work experience opportunities to students from a number of local educational institutions, including:
- Ormiston College
- Sheldon College
- Lourdes Hill College
- University of Queensland
- Griffith University
